HIMSS24 - APAC, COREA: building the Future of Health IT. IHE-CATALYST will be there, to contribute to creating tomorrow’s health. October 1-4, 2024
On October 2, 2024, Alexander Berler, representing IHE-Catalyst, will take part to the HIMSS24 APAC at the highly anticipated session “HIMSS and IHE – A Collaborative Approach to Interoperability”, taking place from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
Alexander, with the support of Tom Leary (Senior Vice President & Head of Government Relations, HIMSS) and Jürgen Brandstätter (Board Member, IHE International, Austria), will approach the hot topic of interoperability in health: as healthcare systems around the world strive to improve patient outcomes and streamline data sharing, the importance of interoperability becomes undeniable.
Exploring the Dynamic Collaboration Between HIMSS and IHE
The session will explore the robust partnership between HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) and IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise), aimed at advancing healthcare interoperability on a global scale. By working together, these two organizations have forged a path toward creating a fully interoperable healthcare ecosystem, where stakeholders—ranging from healthcare providers to software vendors—have seamless access to meaningful health information.
Alexander Berler will provide insights into how this collaboration is revolutionizing healthcare by improving the overall well-being of individuals and communities. This aligns with Catalyst’s ongoing efforts to enhance health information exchange (IHE) through innovative solutions and global partnerships.
The Benefits for Digital Health Stakeholders
The benefits of interoperability are clear: by adhering to IHE’s frameworks and standards, they can confidently implement systems that integrate seamlessly with others, providing better care and ensuring that critical health data flows where it’s needed most. The session will explore how these efforts are driving significant improvements in healthcare delivery, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
A key part of the session will focus on how the pre-testing of products in IHE-Connectathons ensures interoperability and quality before they reach the market, as the IHE-Projecathons, that further ensure the reliability and compatibility of healthcare systems. The European Commission, WHO, and other global organizations have recognized the importance of these testing and certification processes.
